I’ve always been a voracious reader.
When all the other kids in school were digging into Where The Red Fern Grows and Charlotte's Web, I was reading James Bond, Tom Clancy novels, and Vietnam War memoirs.
I was a dreamer, a bit of a loner, the kid who was always staring out the window. But I wasn’t looking at the ball field or the playground, my attention was focused on the worlds inside my mind.
Creative writing classes and a degree in film helped me acquire the tools I needed to improve my skills as a storyteller. When I wasn’t buried under coursework, my creative time was divided between writing tales of adventure and rolling dice with my friends while laughing through hours of table-top role-playing games.
My passion for telling stories never waned, but I hadn’t thought to share my writing with the world until I discovered independent publishing platforms like Amazon’s KDP, Smashwords, Kobo, and others.
So, in the summer of 2010, I started writing a novel.
And I haven’t stopped writing since.
When I’m not writing
For several years, I’ve taught part-time through a local adult and community education program. I focus on teaching blogging and self-publishing, with the goal of helping new authors navigate through the process of digital and print-on-demand book production and distribution. You can find more information on the SelfPub 101 page here.
Recently I’ve been a guest on podcasts (and I’d love to do more!), discussing everything from author education and advocacy to my passion for Magnum P.I. and the films of Dolph Lundgren.
I collect old watches and vintage paperback novels (especially Robert E. Howard, Edward Abbey, and Alistair MacLean), take my tea hot and my coffee iced, believe cats are better than most people, and make a perfect French 75.
